Description

This blend is inspired by the personality of Alexandra David-Néel, orientalist and explorer, adventurer of Asia and great lover of tea. The black tea evokes China and recalls the tea road; the generous base of spices (including pepper, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and cardamom) represents her quest for the distant Orient; the freshness of the floral note reveals the benefits and fulfilment of meditation.

An indulgent, well-travelled Chinese black tea, carried by a generous base of spices – pepper, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom – that gives way to a fresh floral note on the finish. The cup is round and warming, with a long spicy finish that evokes the tea road and the vast landscapes crossed by Alexandra David-Néel.

1 muslin tea bag / 20 cl water at 95°C - steep for 5 minutes.

A tea to enjoy plain to fully appreciate the interplay of spices, or with a dash of milk to soften the strength of the black tea. Its spicy character makes it the ideal companion for autumn and winter afternoons.

Chinese black tea, pepper, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, natural flavourings.

Mariage Frères, a French tea house founded in 1854 and the historic benchmark for luxury tea. This blend pays tribute to Alexandra David-Néel (1868-1969), French explorer and orientalist, the first Western woman to enter Lhasa, Tibet, in 1924.
