Your online tea shop, from Geneva's Old Town
La Tsarine is a tea shop on rue de la Tour-de-Boël, in the heart of Geneva's Old Town. It is also an online tea shop: on the website you will find the teas from our shelves, prepared and shipped from Geneva. Two Parisian tea houses are brought together here: Mariage Frères and Dammann Frères.
Order tea online, delivered across Switzerland
Ordering tea from La Tsarine takes just a few minutes. Orders received before 3 pm are prepared the same working day and handed to Swiss Post within 24 working hours. When you buy tea online, delivery in Switzerland costs CHF 11.– and is free from CHF 100.–. Prefer to drop by the shop? Collection in Geneva is free.
Tea in Geneva: come and taste in the shop
Our tea shop in Geneva is open Tuesday to Sunday. The teas are weighed by hand, and Eliane advises you in person or by phone. For anyone looking for quality tea in Geneva, it is an address worth discovering.
Taste before you buy, or receive your tea every month
Not sure yet? The 20 g discovery size lets you taste a Dammann Frères tea before ordering more. So you never run out of tea in Switzerland, the subscription box delivers your selection every month. And for the perfect brew, Eliane's notebook shares her tips, from matcha to your morning cup.
Over 100 loose-leaf teas and herbal teas for every taste
Our online tea sales cover every family: black teas, green teas from Japan, China and Korea, white teas, oolong (blue) teas, pu-erh and rooibos. Lovers of infusions will also find a wide choice of herbal teas. To prepare them, a selection of teapots and accessories completes the shop.
Mariage Frères and Dammann Frères: two houses in one Swiss tea shop
La Tsarine brings two great Parisian houses together in a single Swiss tea shop. Among the Mariage Frères teas, you will find creations such as Marco Polo®, Bouddha Bleu® or Casablanca®. Among the Dammann Frères teas, the great classics, flavoured teas and individually wrapped Cristal tea bags. Looking for a gift? Our tea gift sets and Advent calendars are ready to give.
How do you choose your tea?
In the morning, a strong black tea such as Darjeeling or Earl Grey goes well with breakfast. During the day, a Japanese green tea or an oolong makes a lighter cup. In the evening, choose an herbal tea or a rooibos, naturally theine-free. In summer, our iced teas are made by cold brewing. Still unsure? Eliane will help you by phone or in the shop.
Storing your tea properly
Once home, keep your tea in an airtight tin, away from light, air, moisture and odours. Our tea tins are made for exactly that.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy tea in Geneva?
La Tsarine is a tea shop at rue de la Tour-de-Boël 3, 1204 Geneva, in the Old Town, open Tuesday to Sunday. You can also order online and collect your order free of charge in the shop, or have it delivered anywhere in Switzerland.
What is the difference between Mariage Frères and Dammann Frères?
They are two French tea houses. Mariage Frères, founded in Paris in 1854, is known for flavoured creations such as Marco Polo® or Bouddha Bleu®. Dammann Frères, whose history goes back to 1692, offers great classics, flavoured teas and Cristal tea bags. At La Tsarine, you can compare both in one place.
Which tea makes a good gift?
A tea gift set is the simplest choice: it brings together several teas, ready to give. For a tea lover, a teapot or an exceptional tea is always welcome, and for a gift that lasts, the subscription box delivers a selection every month. At the end of the year, Advent calendars are also very popular.
Do you sell matcha?
Yes. La Tsarine offers matcha, such as Matcha Midori or Matcha Early Harvest, as well as the accessories to prepare it: bamboo whisk (chasen), scoop (chashaku) and matcha bowls. Eliane's notebook explains how to prepare it properly.
How do I prepare loose-leaf tea?
Allow about 2 to 3 g of tea per cup. Green tea steeps in water at 70–80 °C for 2 to 3 minutes, black tea in water at 90–95 °C for 3 to 5 minutes. Herbal teas and rooibos can take boiling water and a longer infusion.
